
Dipped Butter Buds
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Baking time: 10 minutes per cookie sheet
Dipping and cooling time: 30 minutes
Total time: 70 minutes minutes
Makes approximately 36 cookies
Ingredients
1 cup butter
1 cup light brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
2 ¾ cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
Optional for dipping
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup white chocolate chips
4 tsp butter or lard

1 cup butter

Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 F and lightly grease cookie sheets.
- Mix butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla in a large bowl until smooth and creamy.
- Add flour, baking powder and salt and mix well.
- Roll dough into 1” balls and place on lightly greased cookie sheets.
- Flatten balls using a fork to make a criss-cross pattern on the top of each cookie.
- Bake for 8 -10 minutes until cookie is lightly browned. Remove from the oven. Let cool for 5 minutes, then remove from cookie sheets and let cool on a baking rack.
- While cookies are cooling, melt the dipping chocolate. Put 1 cup chocolate or white chips in a microwave safe glass bowl. Add 2 tsp of butter or lard. Microwave on high for 30 seconds. Then remove and stir. Repeat every 30 seconds until chocolate is melted and creamy smooth.
- Dip cookies in chocolate or drizzle chocolate on the cookies to make a variety of patterns. Place dipped cookies on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Put cookie sheet in the fridge for 15 minutes until chocolate is hard.
- Store cookies in an airtight container in a cool place until ready to serve.
